Emerging Web Marketing Tactics You Should Know in 2016

Web marketing is not new to us as marketers and business owners, what is however new is the evolving ways we convey business intent to present day smart consumers. We all know when we are being sold new products and services. Marketers have unconsciously trained our seven senses- sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, vestibular, proprioception to spot marketing messages and ignore them without blinking. Since most consumers are innately equipped to turning down sales pitches from traditional marketers, how else can we sell to consumers with intention to bypass their built-in defense and sell anyway with our integrity intact?

Obviously, low sales will yield low revenues and consequently your job may be on the line. As marketers, we cannot continue to fold hands and allow prospects and customers patronize our competitors who are getting it right. It means we must get it right as well.

I have prescribed here seven emerging web marketing tactics that can make you still keep your job as long as you want it, and for business owners, that can inject a new life to your marketing efforts:

#1. Content Marketing

According to Content Marketing Institute,” content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action”.

Today’s consumers are actively researching on the Web for information, products and services. And businesses that can make quality and useful information available stand a better chance of gaining their trust, and eventually their hard earned money. Depending on your business nature, your content ideas could be news, video, white papers, e-books, infographics, case studies, how-to guides, question and answer articles, photos, blogs etc. Content marketing is undoubtedly the present and the future of marketing.

#2. Search Engine Optimization

Nothing better explains the benefits of strategic positioning than to have your business information appear on the first page of Google search engine results. Apart from local and global visibility, your business brand awareness will increase. Research your niche market keywords, and find long-tail keywords to use in optimizing your website. A well planned Search engine optimization means you don’t have to break your bank to market your services and products.

#3. Socialize Your Business

In present day business environment, it is allowed to be an introvert as a person but not as a business. Your business brand must be extrovert! How well is your business doing on social media? Is your business still shy to build community of potential and existing customers on social networks? Statistics show an average consumers search Web for social proof of brands they patronize.  In a world where businesses are creating social buzz around products and services every moment, sharing and tweeting valuable contents, a social media timid business will be far from achieving core business objectives. While marketing is indispensable to any business survival, injecting your business brand in the conversations on the social media is a cool way to market your product or service without interruption.

#4. Niche Marketing Tactics

If you think everyone on earth is your customers, you need to re-appraise your business model. It is dangerously faulty. You cannot sell to everyone no matter the nature your product or service. Niche market is created to focus your marketing efforts to a selected group of people who represent our ideal customers. The new game is you only need to expend your resources on people who are more likely to buy from you.

#5.Emails Building and Campaign

Email as a business communication tools is still alive and not going to disappear anytime soon. Regardless of our hate for spammers, we will always check our mails.

We will always be tempted to click on mails with catchy and creative subject lines.

Stewart Butterfield once says “email is the cockroach of the internet’ and we’ll be living with it for the next 30 years”.

For marketers, email will continue to be an indispensable low cost communication tool which needs to be used to acquire leads and build customers relationship.

#6. Eyes on Analytics

If you are not following up on what is working or not working for your Web marketing efforts, you are setting yourself up for inevitable frustrations. Today’s marketers and smart business owners are data centric. They are actively recouping business intelligence for business survival and operational success. How do you know if you are heading north or south? You need to constantly investigating.

You need to be glued with your web analytics tool to glean insightful information.

#7. Having a Professionally Designed Business Website

The main question is no more about whether you have a business website or not. The whole world has passed this stage. The question now is how professional is your website looking? The reason is simple, customers’ assessment of your business starts from the look and feel of your website. If a customer believes your website is low in standard, they are going to doubt the quality of your service to them.

If your website takes eternity to load its contents, they going to hiss and walk away.

Today’s smart marketers and business executives are constantly improving their website for competitive advantage.
